Inyo County
Water Department
Revegetation Program
A
1991 environmental impact report describes groundwater management in the Owens Valley
before and following adoption of the Inyo/Los Angeles Water Agreement. The EIR identifies
approximately 1,300 acres of Los Angeles land in the Owens Valley that were adversely
affected by Los Angeles Department of Water and Power groundwater and surface water
management. The EIR requires that these lands be revegetated with plant species native to
the valley.
The Inyo County Water Department
and LADWP cooperatively developed a long-term plan to accomplish the EIR's revegetation
requirements. In 1998, the Water Department and LADWP took the initial steps set out in
the Revegetation Plan.
